NEW YORK, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.48 percent to 101.677 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1038 U.S. dollars from 1.1072 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3261 dollars from 1.3284 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.33 Japanese yen, higher than 143.67 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8498 Swiss francs from 0.8466 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3507 Canadian dollars from 1.3484 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.2693 Swedish Kronor from 10.2639 Swedish Kronor.
