GETTING away for a break is a real luxury.
And now two hotels in Scotland have been named as some of the best in the world for travellers looking for lux.
This year’s World Luxury Hotel Awards were held at the weekend in Galgorm in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
A stunning gala celebration was held at the gorgeous spa destination.
And a double act of hotels in Edinburgh were recognised.
The InterContinental Edinburgh, The George, was recognised in three categories at the event.
It took titles in the Luxury City Hotel, Luxury Conference and Event Hotel and Luxury Heritage Hotel groups.
Situated on the capital’s George Street, the hotel has a rich heritage having played host to the likes of Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott in its 200-year history.
It’s described as warm and welcoming with sumptuous decor and a buzzy restaurant and bar.
Meanwhile, The Caledonia picked up three gongs in the Luxury City Hotel, Luxury Historical Hotel and Luxury Wedding Hotel categories.
Part of the Hilton’s Curio Collection, the hotel is set in a former Victorian train station, right at the end of the capital’s famous Princes Street.
The elegant rooms have spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle – and even come with bedding and pillow menus.
There’s also a spa which offers beauty treatments and has a nail bar, a pool, a sauna and a steam room.
The Belfast awards event came after a global event in Bali.
Anton Perold, Managing Director of the World Luxury Awards, said: “We are thrilled to have hosted such magnificent celebrations at AYANA Bali and Galgorm.
“These events are a testament to the dedication and passion of the luxury establishments that continue to set new standards of excellence.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants.”
