Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) melted down over comments Fox Corp. Board member and former Speaker Paul Ryan made on Fox News on Tuesday.
Ryan lamented that Donald Trump is once again the Republican presidential nominee.
“I voted for him in 2016, hoping that there was gonna be a different kind of person in office,” the Republican said on Your World. “And I do think character is a really important issue. If you put yourself above the Constitution as he has done that shows you’re unfit for office.”
“But what happened?” host Neil Cavuto asked. “What turned you? Was it the whole January 6 thing?”
“That’s a part of it,” Ryan replied before reiterating that Trump placed himself above the Constitution. He also made clear he does not support President Joe Biden.
Nehls, an outspoken member of Congress, offered his unvarnished reaction to CNN’s Manu Raju later in the evening.
“Paul Ryan you’re a piece of garbage. You’re a piece of garbage and we should kick you out of the party,” the lawmaker said, according to a tweet from Raju. “Don’t go spouting your mouth off and saying that you’re a conservative. You’re spitting in the face of the leader of our party. I mean grow up a little bit.”

Last month, Raju spoke with Nehls while the congressman was wearing a tie with multiple images of Trump on it.
“Everything that we do in the House of Representatives should be in the best interests of getting Donald Trump reelected,” he said while holding up the tie. “This guy right here.”
