Tripti Dimri‘s debut film, Laila Majnu, directed by Sajid Ali, is set to re-release in theaters worldwide on August 9, 2024. Though the film did not work well at the box office in 2018, it later gained cult status and widespread acclaim after its OTT release, winning the hearts of audiences.
Imtiaz Ali who penned the script expressed his excitement, “Laila Majnu back on popular demand!!! gratitude to your love that pulled it into theatres again after six years!! re-realizing 9th Aug ‘24 in cinemas nationwide (check picture) congratulations team LM.” He also shared a handwritten list of the cinema halls where the movie will be re-released.
After Imtiaz officially announced the re-release on social media, television queen Ekta Kapoor called it “Epic.” A fan joined in, requesting the team “interval mat rakhna pls, rote hue koi dekh lega lights on hongi to.”

Other user got emotional upon learning about this news and penned, “Dear Imtiaz Ali … firstly a big thank you for this….I often write sometimes on random fanpage that this movie should’ve released once again….and it’s really happening…i would lie if I say am not crying (happy tears) I was so eagerly waiting for this moment and it’s really came true ty thank you once again.”
In an interview with IANS, Triptii Dimri shared that she never auditioned for her role in Laila Majnu. Instead, she was discovered by the film’s casting head who, noticing her Kashmiri look, suggested she audition. This led to her landing the role, marking the beginning of her career. The film, presented by Imtiaz Ali, originally released on September 7, 2018.
‘Laila Majnu,’ directed by Sajid Ali and written by Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Ali, also featured Avinash Tiwary in the lead role opposite Triptii Dimri.
