Lamela, 32, went on to enjoy his time in Spain and won the first trophy of his career in 2023.

The Argentine was a part of the side that beat Roma in the Europa League final.

The midfielder scored in the penalty shootout as Sevilla claimed victory over his former side.

Lamela will be on the lookout for the fifth club of his career after his exit.

He said: “I only have words of gratitude to those who came to share this with me, to all of Sevilla FC for making me this small act of recognition.

“Like all farewells, It’s a little sad, today I have to be speaking in front of you at the moment that a player never expects, but I understand as a great professional that these kinds of moments come and that the cycles end.

“For me it is important to speak today to be able to express what.

“How I feel about this club, from the first day I felt at home, they made everything easy for me so that I could only think about playing football.

“For me it was an honor to wear the Sevilla shirt.

“I was privileged, I always gave my best and for me that is the most important thing. Thank you eternally.”
