An alleged Islamophobic attacker brutally murdered a Durban mother in front of her children, sparking outrage in South African communities.
Grayson Beare brutally stabbed Halima Hoosen-Preston, believed to be in her forties, multiple times in the attack.
Authorities believe he forced his way into her home on Hyder Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Health Department urges vigilance as Mpox cases rise in KwaZulu-Natal
The Department of Health has issued a call for heightened public vigilance following the confirmation of two additional Mpox cases in KwaZulu-Natal.
This brings the country’s total to four confirmed cases, including one in Durban and another in Gauteng last month.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) confirmed these new cases this week at Addington and St Augustine Hospitals.
Ramaphosa enacts below-inflation 2024 salary increases for government
While President Ramaphosa still has the authority to do so, his office has approved 2024 salary increases for government staff, reports Business Tech.
Surprisingly, considering the historically lavish spending on government salaries, the increases are just 2.5%, which puts them well below inflation. The 2024 salary increases for government staff also kick in retroactively, counting back to 1 April 2024.
Mbulelo Ngubane named as the SANDF soldier killed in DRC
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has named Sergeant Mbulelo Ngubane as the soldier who died in the line of duty in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) last Thursday.
Ngubane was killed at Sake in the DRC following a clash between M23 rebels and SADC forces.
