Actor Gurucharan Singh, known for playing Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has been missing for over a week, leaving fans and former colleagues worried. The producer of TMKOC, Asit Kumarr Modi, has expressed shock over the news. In an interview, Modi described Gurucharan as a caring family man who took responsibility for his parents. Despite not being close personally, Modi remembered Gurucharan as religious and always greeted him with a smile. He expressed hope for Gurucharan’s safety and urged for prayers.
Modi told Times Now, “This is a very painful and shocking news. He was very loving towards his family. He took the whole responsibility of his parents on himself. We were never really personal with each other but from what I knew of him, he was a very religious person. He had left TMKOC during Covid, but we always had good relations even after that… Gurucharan always used to meet me with a smile. His disappearance is very shocking, I don’t know why this has happened. The investigation is on, though, so I am sure something good will turn up. I pray to God that he is safe and he picks up his calls.”
Regarding their last meeting, Asit Modi mentioned it was about 6-7 months ago after Gurucharan left the show. He dismissed reports of unpaid dues during Gurucharan’s departure amid the COVID-19 pandemic, stating it was a challenging time for everyone, and the situation has since improved.
Gurucharan was last seen boarding an RTV bus that goes to North Delhi’s Peeragarhi area. As per the reports, Singh withdrew Rs 14,000 from the ATM the same night. Delhi Police was suppose to check the bank account details of Gurucharan so that they can know when and from where the money was withdrawn, according to a Zee News report.
It has been reported that the actor had a flight to Mumbai from Delhi on April 22 which he didn’t board. Singh’s father lodged a complaint and the Delhi Police registered an FIR under kidnapping case.
DCP Rohit Meena who is closely working on the case told media, “Gurucharan Singh’s family lodged a complaint with us that he left for Mumbai on 22 April at 8:30 PM. He has been missing since then. We have registered a case and are investigating from multiple angles. We are looking for footage and technical investigation and we have even found many vital clues.”
