This internet sensation got her wedding card customised by none-other than ace artist M.F. Husain. Scroll down to know more.
Maqbool Fida Husain, widely regarded as the maverick of modern Indian art, was an iconic name in the art world, fondly remembered as the “Picasso of India.” M.F. Husain left behind a remarkable legacy that continues to inspire. While he is celebrated for his captivating paintings, few people know that the legendary artist also designed wedding cards for socialite and internet personality Shalini Passi.
Shalini, who has gained popularity through her appearances on Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, recently revealed that her wedding card was custom-designed by none other than M.F. Husain himself. She shared that the celebrated artist was insistent on meeting her in person before creating the design. In a recent interview, she explained how she encouraged Husain to take on this unique task, and he didn’t just create one design—he crafted four distinct cards for her wedding.
“Husain Sahab was very close to my husband’s family,” she told India Today. “My husband’s family approached him to make the wedding cards, and he replied, ‘First, I’ll see the girl, and then I’ll paint.’ After he met me, he said, ‘This is a Radha-Krishna Jodi,’ and painted four beautiful wedding cards. One was for the Mata Ki Chowki, one for the Sangeet, one for the wedding, and one for the reception.”
M.F. Husain passed away in June 2011 at the age of 95, leaving behind an indelible mark on the art world.
