Amitabh Bachchan Reveals His Kids’ Love for Punjabi Folk Songs
In the latest episode of KBC 16, the stage will be graced by renowned singers Gurdas Maan and Shankar Mahadevan, whose soulful melodies are sure to create a magical atmosphere. During this musical moment, Amitabh Bachchan shared an interesting insight about his family’s love for music, revealing that his children, Abhishek and Shweta, have a deep affection for Punjabi folk songs.
Recalling a conversation with his daughter Shweta, the superstar explained how the Bachchan kids developed a strong connection to these traditional tunes. He shared that both Abhishek and Shweta have been visiting the Gurudwara from a young age, where they were introduced to the spiritual and soulful Bani. It was here that they began to cultivate a deep love for Punjabi folk music.
He said, “I was talking to my daughter Shweta because all the kids in our family listen to Punjabi folk songs; they are very popular in our household. I asked her how these songs become so popular and where the singers come from. There are so many new singers emerging who sing beautifully. She told me something that I would like you to confirm – whether it’s true or not. She said that at a very young age, children go to the Gurudwara, listen to the Bani, and learn from it. It is from there that they get their music education. Is this true? (sic).”
In response to Amitabh Bachchan’s revelation, Gurdas Maan confirmed that Shweta’s words were spot on. The legendary singer fondly recalled an unforgettable moment when his team performed for the Bachchan family, describing how Amitabh Bachchan graciously blessed him with a token of appreciation – a crisp Rs. 500 note. He said, “Yes, absolutely, Sir, that is correct.” He continues, “I’m feeling a lot of love and respect today. I remember I was in Delhi for Shweta’s wedding, and our group performed there. Shenshah (referring to Mr Bachchan) was standing in front of us. After I performed, he gave me a 500-rupee note as a blessing. I still keep that note as a treasure with me (sic).” Shankar further added, “You sang at Shweta ji’s wedding, and I sang at Abhishek ji’s wedding (sic).”
