Talaash makers first approached, Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan for the lead role. However, both declined to do this film. According to media reports, it is said that Aamir Khan’s film name Talaash was changed not once, not twice but three times. The makers first went with the name Dhuaan, then Act of Murder, and then Zakhmi. At last, the makers decided to go with the name Talaash.

Talaash was made with a small budget of Rs 50 crore, talking about the total collection of the film, made a worldwide collection of Rs 175 crore. The audience loved the action-thriller and it had a good image of the film from critics.
According to media reports, word on the street was that the ending of the film matched with Kahaani’s (2012) ending, so it was re-shot again. However, later the rumours were brushed off. Apart from working in Talaash, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor have also worked in 3 Idiots, Lal Singh Chadha. Their on-screen chemistry becomes the talk of Bollywood.
