The actor in the discussion is Sanjay Kapoor. He began his career with the 1995 film Prem, starring alongside Tabu. Though the film flopped badly, Sanjay still managed to secure another film. His next project turned out to be a blockbuster, bringing him recognition and fame.
Prem was a film that took eight years to make. Media reports suggest that during the shoot, Sanjay and Tabu grew extremely close. However, the same reports claim that Sanjay cheated on Tabu, leading to their separation.
Many members of Sanjay Kapoor’s family have made a mark in the industry. His entire family remains active in Bollywood. His brother, Anil Kapoor, is a veteran actor, while Boney Kapoor is a successful producer. Although Sanjay Kapoor delivered several hit films in his career, they never propelled him to the top.
Despite the success of his second film, Sanjay did not receive any good scripts afterwards. In an interview, he shared his disappointment, saying, “It is said that success changes everything. As soon as your film becomes a hit, producers start casting you. But this did not happen to me. No one came to my door—I kept sitting there, waiting.”
Sanjay Kapoor starred alongside Madhuri Dixit in the 1995 film Raja, which proved to be a hit. The songs of the film also became very popular. Made on a budget of just ₹4.25 crores, the film earned ₹33.58 crores worldwide. However, this success did not benefit Sanjay’s career.
The movie further cemented Madhuri Dixit’s status as a star, but Sanjay Kapoor’s position in the industry remained unchanged.
