This actress, despite her rising fame, revealed how her personal values and her family’s disapproval of certain roles led her to lose out on several big projects.
There are several actresses who have to leave massive films and shows for major roles, even if they are a perfect fit, because the film involves intimate scenes they are not comfortable with. Today, we will talk about an actress who, despite her rising fame, revealed how her personal values and her family’s disapproval of certain roles led her to lose out on several big projects. This actress is none other than Mrunal Thakur.
Mrunal Thakur began her career in 2012 with the television show Mujhse Kuchh Kehti Hai… Yeh Khamoshiyaan, alongside Mohit Sehgal. She quickly rose to fame with various roles in shows like Kumkum Bhagya and Nach Baliye 7. In 2014, she made her film debut with the Marathi movie Vitti Dandu, and by 2019, she marked her Bollywood entry with Super 30 alongside Hrithik Roshan. She went on to feature in films like Batla House, Ghost Stories, Toofan and Dhamaka.
However, in a recent conversation, Mrunal Thakur made a shocking revelation about her early career choices. She admitted that she had to forgo several major film opportunities due to her discomfort with intimate scenes, particularly kissing scenes, which she wasn’t willing to perform. According to the actress, she would often feel uneasy at the thought of such scenes and would refuse roles that required them.
Moreover, her parents also disapproved of her taking up such roles, which caused her to miss out on opportunities. But, as she matured in the industry, she realized that some films demanded such scenes, and she had to explain to her parents that these decisions weren’t entirely in her hands.
In an interview with iDiva, the actress shared that there was a particular film she had to leave because it involved a kissing scene she wasn’t comfortable with. She said, “I was not really comfortable doing scenes which were intimate, like romantically. I would just get scared, I’d just say no to a film, but how long could I say no? There was a point I had to sit down with my parents and tell them that ‘Papa, I cannot miss a part because sometimes it’s there, it’s not my choice’.”
Mrunal Thakur has starred in numerous hits, including Jersey with Shahid Kapoor, Sita Ramam with Dulquer Salmaan, and will soon be seen in Maddock Films’ Pooja Meri Jaan, alongside Huma Qureshi, as well as Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Son of Sardaar 2, Tum Ho Toh and Dacoit: A Love Story.
