Today we will be talking about this 44-year old dashing hero who has done less films as compared to Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, but still beats them in terms of popularity. This year, he has given the highest grossing film and etched his name in hearts of audiences. He is none other than the global star Prabhas.
Prabhas made his acting debut with Eeswar (2002) and later attained his breakthrough with the action romance Varsham (2004). Then he went on to star in other commercially successful films such as
Chatrapathi (2005), Bujjigadu (2008), Billa (2009), Darling (2010), Mr. Perfect (2011), and Mirchi (2013).
Following this, in 2015, Prabhas did SS Rajamouli’s epic action dram Baahubali, which became the thirteenth highest-grossing Indian film of all time. He later reprised his role in its sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which became the first Indian film to gross Rs 1000 crore across all languages. This high-budget film helped Prabhas gain global recognition, hence, becoming the first Pan-India star.
After Baahubali, the actor delivered flops like Saaho, (2019) Radhe Shyam (2022) and Adipurush (2023). These 3 films failed to make an impact at the box office. Still, it didn’t affect Prabhas’s stardom and he made a big comeback with the action drama Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire (2003) and the science fiction film Kalki 2898 AD (2024)
Both the high-budget films opened to positive reviews and were box office successes. Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire, grossed Rs 176 crore worldwide on its opening day, making it Prabha’s fourth Rs 100 core opening day grosser. Moreover, Kalki 2898 AD (2024) grossed over Rs 1,100 crore at the box office, becoming the second Rs 1,000 crore film for the actor.
This year, Prabhas has bagged the top spot in the list of most popular male Indian film stars. Due to immense popularity, Prabhas has a net worth of Rs 241 crore, according to reports by Siasat. His name comes under the top Telugu stars with the highest net worth in the Indian film industry.
