Chandigarh confusion
Worried over open factional fights among Congress leaders and workers in Chandigarh after AICC replaced local leader Pawan Bansal with Manish Tewari as the party candidate, AICC is now planning to send an emissary on a peace mission. As per whispers at the AICC office, those who jumped at the offer lacked in stature to deal with either Bansal or Tewari as they are known to be conscious of their seniority and organisational record in reaching the leadership. As the leadership almost chose a functionary, party circles are praying that this firefighting won’t end up like another ‘operation salvage’ which almost knocked off a party government from a hilltop. Not music to ears
Maharashtra politicians are known to recite couplets during assembly debates. However, not all are adept at it. Rohit Pawar, Sharad Pawar’s grandnephew and a first-time MLA, confessed recently to a TV channel that he tried to emulate senior leaders by reciting a couplet, but he forgot lines during recitation. Rohit has realised that it is better to stick to one’s core areas rather than recite poems.
