Being a car thief is dumb. Being a car thief who gets caught inside of a car is even dumber. Being a car thief who gets stuck inside of the car they are actually trying to steal? Dumbest person on earth. And that’s exactly what happened to one Florida Corvette thief who got cough — and stuck — in the act.

After having breakfast Julio Solano came back to a Miami Beach parking garage where he’d parked his C8 Corvette only to find a man trapped inside it, according to Miami’s Local 10. The man — identified as Ravesh Rabindranauth — was pleading for help as he couldn’t get out. What’s more hilarious is that the whole thing was caught on camera.

“My brother, this is not your car, this is my car,” Julio Solano, the owner of the car asked 33-year-old Ravesh Rabindranauth.

“Can I get out?” Rabindranauth was heard asking Solano while being recorded on the victim’s cellphone.

“No, you can’t get out. We’re calling the cops,” Solano replied.

Solano called the police who came and arrested Rabindranauth. It’s not exactly clear how Rabindranauth was able to get into the car, but the car’s complicated releases look as though they may have helped hold him there. The Corvette has had electric door releases for the last few generations. They’ve been an annoyance to some owners and have proved deadly to others. It looks as though those very releases, along with the car’s electronics and security system, helped trap Rabindranauth inside.

“The car’s electrical components don’t function without the keys, and fortunately, he didn’t know about the manual door release under the seat,” Solano told Local 10. Solano also notified the owner of a high end rental car company who also stores vehicles in the garage his car was parked in, about what happened.

As for Rabindranauth, he’s been charged with one count of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and is being held on a $2,500 bond.
