A TRAVEL expert has revealed a clever bumbag trick that can make all the difference on long haul flights.
Plane cabins are notoriously uncomfortable places to sit, with passengers having to squeeze themselves in alongside strangers for hours at a time.
However, travel Tiktoker Zhara (@byzahrakhan) showed how a cheap bag can provide people with some much-needed extra comfort when sitting on long journeys.
In a video, she showed how she attaches the strap of the bumbag to her tray table.
She then uses the main compartment of the bag, which is suspended from the seat in front, to put her feet up.
She said: “This is an airplane hack for resting your feet.
“If you have a long bag like this, extend the strap and slip it over the snacking tray.
“Flip the strap to the back, lock the tray table, and you’re free to rest your feet.”
The hack doesn’t only work with bumbags, either, as Zahra pointed out.
She continued: “And if you have a messenger bag with removable straps, take the clips on either side, clip them to each other, and then spin it around so the shoulder pad is where your feet rest.
“I’ve seen companies sell foot straps specifically for long haul flights, but I don’t want to pack extra stuff when this works.”
Zahra’s followers were impressed with her idea.
One simply said: “It’s a gamechanger.”
Another added their own bit of advice for a makeshift footrest.
They wrote: “A sarong or scarf also works, make knots on either side and lock between sides table.”
For some people who want to stretch their legs out during flights, picking the aisle seat is seen as the best option.
This allows those passengers to put their legs out into the aisle without stretching into another person’s legroom.
And for those people, there’s an extra way to make their seats even more comfortable that they might not know about.
It comes in the form of a small button underneath the armrest in the plane’s aisle seats.
The little catch allows the passengers in those chairs to lift the armrest up, providing them with more space to stretch out into.
The button was highlighted by a cabin crew member, who shared the information on Tiktok.
In a video, she lifted the armrest up and down while explaining how other people could do it.
The flight attendant captioned the video: “This is for people who didn’t know that the aisle seat armrest moves too, it’s like this on most aircraft types.”

Meanwhile, this is why you’re more likely to fall asleep during takeoff on a flight.
And this is the huge mistake people make when trying to get comfortable on a plane.
