FORGET a long flight to the Maldives, there’s a resort in Greece that has its own water bungalows – and stays are a fraction of the price.
Greece remains a popular holiday choice among Brits, with the country home to lots of glamourous resorts and hotels.

One of those places is the Stella Island Resort in Greece, which is one of the only hotels on the island to have the iconic overwater villas often seen at resorts in the Maldives.
Last year, TikTok user Evelyn, who is known as evelynstravelzone on the social media platform, posted a video about her trip to the Greek resort.
A caption over the footage read: “The Maldives are irreplaceable, but if you are looking for some cool overwater bungalows in Europe, without having to spend a fortune on flights, check out Stella Island in Crete, Greece.”
The footage showed several wooden overwater bungalows, which all overlooked a swimming pool.
The video has had 1.1million views on the TikTok platform, with several users writing about their own holidays.
One person wrote: “We went there, and only paid £1,500 for an all-inclusive water bungalow. It was absolutely amazing.”
Another person said: “We went there this year, the staff was incredible, and we really enjoyed our time there.”
While a third wrote: “I got married there in September, and it’s well worth its money.”

Stella Island Resort is a five-star adults-only hotel located near the resort town of Analipsi.
The resort’s overwater villas are similar to those found in the Maldives, with the only difference being that the lodges are over a large pool, rather than the sea.
Stella Island Resort has a range of lodges to choose from, including some with private pools, while others have pool views.
The Overwater Bungalows and Swim Up rooms, each have a bungalow on a private pool deck and hammock, with direct access to the swimming pool.
There are also Grand Overwater Bungalows, which feature overwater hammocks and private hot tubs.
Sun Online Travel have found rooms from £226 per night, making them a fraction of the cost in the Maldives.
Jet2 and Ryanair operate direct flights from UK cities like London, Birmingham, and Newcastle, with fares starting from £35 for a one-way ticket.
There are plenty of other places across Europe that have been compared to the Maldives in recent years.
Last summer, Ksamil in Albania was dubbed the “Maldives of Europe” by holidaymakers.
Tiktoker user The Travel Mum (@thetravelmum) posted all about her holiday to the seaside village.
In a video, she explained how to get to Ksamil in Albania, which she referred to as the “Maldives of Europe” and exactly what visitors can expect.
Her footage has been viewed more than a million times on Tiktok, with her and her family seen enjoying sandy beaches with turquoise waters, as well as deep orange sunsets from their hotel balcony.
