The sub-Rs 20,000 smartphone segment is slowly catching up in terms of premium hardware. We are seeing phones with superior AMOLED displays, larger battery units, OIS cameras, and more. A couple of years ago, we were used to seeing such hardware only on phones upwards of Rs 30,000. This evolution makes the segment quite interesting. Among everything that took a giant leap forward, the fast charging technology is one of the deciding factors. 

In this article, we take a look at the top five phones with the fastest charging speeds under the Rs 20,000 price segment.

The Tecno POVA 6 Pro is the company’s premium mid-range phone. The handset packs a large 6,000mAh battery, which is the highest in the list mentioned above. There is 70W fast charging support (which is also the fastest on this list) and the phone took 60 minutes to charge from 0-100 percent, which is impressive considering the huge battery cell. The phone lasted 15 hours and 56 minutes in the PCMark battery test.

Besides the chipset, the phone comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, a 108MP primary camera, and Android 14 OS out of the box. We have a 32MP shooter on the front for selfies.

Realme Narzo 70 Pro

The Realme Narzo 70 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. The ultra-fast charging tech has managed to charge the phone from 20-100 percent in just 42 minutes. The sheer speed at which it can charge is brilliant considering it’s a phone priced under Rs 20,000. This is the fastest phone to charge in this list. The phone recorded 16 hours and 24 minutes in our PC Mark battery test, which is pretty good.

The Realme Narzo 70 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Android 14 OS out of the box, a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS, MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, and a 16MP front camera for selfies.

Price: Rs 19,999 for 8GB/128GB and Rs 21,999 for 8GB/256GB variant.

Realme 12 5G

Realme 12 5G ships with a 5,000mAh battery bundled with 45W SuperVOOC fast charging support. It took 67 minutes for the phone to charge from 20 to 100 percent. Our review notes the Realme 12 5G battery was able to last an impressive 19 hours and 15 minutes, according to the PCMark battery test. The phone should offer at least 5-6 hours of screen-on-time.

The iQOO Z9 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery, which is quite standard. We get 44W fast charging support and the adapter is bundled in the box. The phone took 44 minutes to charge from 20-100 percent. The 5,000mAh battery has managed to last around 15 hours and 40 minutes in our PC Mark battery test, which is quite good.

The Vivo T3 5G launched in India as a new mid-range offering. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 44W fast charging support. The phone can charge from 20-100 percent in 70 minutes. While this may be slightly slower than others in the segment it is still fast for a phone under Rs 20,000. The device recorded up to 15 hours and 16 minutes in the PCMark Battery test.

The Vivo T3 offers a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity 7200, 50MP Sony IMX882 camera with OIS + EIS, an in-display fingerprint sensor, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance.

Despite having ultra-fast charging solutions, brands are taking enough measures to prevent the battery cells from wearing out fast. There are several tests done to check the battery cycles before the product is made available for customers. With the current tech, the battery units should last at least 2-3 years without degrading. Similarly, the charging adapters have enough protection against surges, low-voltage, and others.
