Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena says he has not given up on his dream of playing overseas.
This comes after the 27-year-old maestro penned a long-term contract with Masandawana. Mokoena has been linked to several European clubs since his impressive showing at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. The former SuperSport United star was set to leave Downs for foreign shored but in a turn of events, he signed a long-term with the Tshwane giants.
Speaking to the media this week, Teboho Mokoena said he was happy at Sundowns but his dream was to play overseas
“The dream is still alive,” he told the media. “We still have the Club World Cup so we will see next year.”
Teboho Mokoena focused on FIFA Club World Cup
“I am happy to be at the club – the reason I signed the contract is because I know the project and want to be part of it. It was an easy decision for me to stay here because we still have the [FIFA] Club World Cup, we still CAF [Champions League] and we still have AFL [African Football League] and I still have Bafana Bafana on the side,” he said as per SABC Sport.
Teboho Mokoena is eyeing the FIFA Club World Cup which Sundowns have qualified for. The tournament takes place in the United States of America next year in June. The strong midfielder featured in Masandawana’s MTN8 fixture against Polokwane City the previous weekend. The Tshwane giants managed to win the match 1-0 after extra-time.
Teboho Mokoena will play his second match this season this week as Downs play Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final.
