On August 19, Monday Hema Committee report consisting of 235 pages was released by Justice K on the sexual harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry. Well, the report uncovered 17 forms of exploitation against women that consist of pay disparity, rape threats, unsolicited sexual remarks and much more. The committee was formed to provide a response to a demand by the Women In Cinema Collective following the 2017 incident which involved a female Malayalam actress who was sexually assaulted in a moving vehicle in Kochi. Malayalam actor Dileep was named as the accused in the case. Several South actresses including Revathy and Ranjini reacted to the Hema Committee report. Well, recently, Tanushree Dutta who was part of #MeToo movement in 2018 had accused Nana Patekar of sexual misconduct on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss and reacted to the Hema Committee report.
In an interview with News18 Showsha, Tanushree said that these committees and reports, she does not understand and said that it is useless. She also said that it took them seven years to make a report on what happened in 2017. She also referred to the Vishakha Committee which was earlier known as Women’s Grievances Committee and said that it was aimed at preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. Tanushree has stirred up the entertainment news.
Tanushree further added saying that what is the point of this new report anyway as they had to arrest the accused and enforce a strong law and order system. She said that she remembers hearing about the Vishakha Committee which had many guidelines and prepared pages of reports. She said that the names of the committees kept changing. She also added that people like Nana and Dileep are narcissistic psychopaths and there is no cure for them. She said that only a vicious and vengeful man can do what they did.

She even said that she does not care about these committees and has no trust in this system. She said that she feels like these reports and committees, are wasting time rather than doing the real work. She said that having a safe workplace is a basic right for a woman—or any human being. She even said that the predators are all mentally ill and they are not in their right minds. She said that they manage to find support among other crazy and psychotic people. Tanushree spoke about her opinions on Dileep finding work despite the allegations and Parvathy Thiruvothu has been denied opportunities. She said that male actors are prejudiced and there’s no compassion.
