Jennifer Mistry Wins Sexual Assualt Case Against Asit Modi
The recent hearing, as reported on the portal, ruled in favour of Jennifer. As a result, Asit has been mandated to settle her unpaid dues and provide her with a compensation of Rs 5 lakh. Jennifer confirmed this development by stating to ETimes, “The verdict is in my favor, validating the allegations I presented with substantial evidence. This outcome exceeds the progress made by the police in the previous year.”
Asit Modi to Pay Rs 30 Lakh To Jenifer Mistry
Jennifer claimed that Asit Modi had been instructed to pay her the amount owed to her, along with additional compensation for intentionally withholding her payment, which amounted to approximately ₹25-30 lakh. She also mentioned that an extra Rs 5 lakh was imposed on Asit for harassment, but she has not yet received any payment from him. Jennifer further stated that the verdict was announced on February 15, 2024, but she was advised not to disclose it to the media.
In her statement, Jennifer expressed a mixture of emotions in response to the verdict. She emphasized the importance of a woman’s reputation, highlighting that she still has not received the amount she earned after working hard on the serial “TMKOC” for over 40 days. Despite proving Mr. Modi guilty of sexual harassment, Jennifer expressed disappointment that no punishment had been given to all three accused, including Sohil and Jatin who were not included in the verdict.
Jennifer also mentioned that the local committee had ordered her due amount, acknowledging that she deserved it. This verdict, according to Jennifer, validates that her case was not fabricated and that she was not seeking cheap publicity. While she expressed gratitude for the recognition of her harassment, she also conveyed that she does not feel she has received proper justice yet.
In July of last year, Jennifer disclosed disturbing details about the toxic environment on the set of the popular show TMKOC, revealing that the actors were subjected to torture. During a 2023 interview with Hindustan Times, Jennifer shared, “The production team neglected basic needs such as washing our clothes, forcing us to wear the same costume for 20 consecutive days. Due to long hours of shooting, the clothes would become smelly, and there were occasions when we had to take matters into our own hands and wash the clothes ourselves. Additionally, the restroom facilities were often unclean.” She further explained, “The cast members faced significant challenges in obtaining even the most fundamental necessities, such as water, with only a limited number of bottles available on set.”
