Mamelodi Sundowns superstar Teboho Mokoena will belong to Kabo Yellow until the age of 32 unless someone buys him out before 2029 or an unexpected contract termination occurs.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS ANNOUNCE TEBOHO MOKOENA DEAL
There’s an expression in football: tying down a player. This is it. Sundowns recently announced a new contract extension for the 27-year-old midfielder Mokoena. It is a whopping five-year deal. The decision comes after the Bethlehem-born star was linked with clubs in Asia, Europe, and North Africa.
“We are delighted to confirm that midfielder Teboho Mokoena has signed a contract extension until 2029,” Sundowns announced via X.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Meanwhile, Mokoena has been asked if his dream to play overseas is over or not?
“The dream [to play in Europe] is still very much alive; we still have [FIFA] Club World Cup. So yeah, we will see what happens,” said Mokoena.
“I’m happy to be at the club; the reason I signed the contract is because I know the project of the club, and I wanted to be part of the project. So it was an easy decision for me to stay here because we still have the Club World Cup, we still have CAF [Champions League], and we still have AFL. We still have Bafana,” the Sundowns maestro concluded.
