Sumona Chakravarti on Receiving Her Due From Industry
Sumona Chakravarti began her career in the entertainment industry as a child artist in Manisha Koirala and Aamir Khan’s film Mann in 1999. She continued to feature in series after a few years, but it was Natasha in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain in 2011 that served as her big break. Sumona has had cameos in big movies including Ranbir, Priyanka’s Barfi! and Salman Khan starrer Kick. With so much good work in her account, Sumona acknowledged that recognition took a back seat.
“I have received a lot of love for sure. There’s definitely recognition but do I feel like I can do a lot more, yes of course but I think yes from the industry. It is also opening up now because of OTT. OTT is one platform that people haven’t seen me on it and they will see me on it very soon, ” she said.
Sumona continued, “I think we’re also opening up because there used to be a bit of a mindset and stereotype thing, you know television actors, you know, didn’t wanna see them in films, we would get boxed in. But I think these new digital age platforms have opened up those doors, I would say. So, it’s become a lot more welcoming and I think it’s a matter that one project where one sees me on OTT or wherever and I think it’ll be flooded.”
Sumona Chakravarti shared a picture with Manisha Koirala, with whom she shared a screen space when she was just 11 years old. The caption read, “How time flies…Year ’99 when i worked wit u in Mann & now after 18yrs…@mkoirala it was absolutely lovely meeting u again#TKSS.”
