Sudhanshu Pandey, popularly known for appearing on Anupamaa addressed the rift between him and Rupali Ganguly. During a conversation with a media house Sudhanshu also reveals the real reason quitting the daily soap.
The news of Sudhanshu Pandey’s unexpected exit from the popular TV show Anupamaa led to many different speculations among the fans. Some conjectures linked his exit to a potential discord with lead actress, Rupali Ganguly. Still, others thought it was related to the introduction of a new character played by Gaurav Khanna, causing Sudhanshu’s role to be reduced from leading to supporting.

However, Sudhanshu himself put these rumours to rest. During a recent conversation with Free Press Journal, he candidly explained that his decision to bid adieu to the show was rooted in his quest for personal growth. He expressed that his character had organically run its course and reached its logical end. Speaking about his character Vanraj said, “There had been some discussions about quitting the show for quite some time now. To be honest, in my mind, I did start feeling that the time to call it quits has been nearing. As an actor, I did not have much left and I felt it was the time to move on.”
He further added, “For four years, I did my best and gave Vanraj Shah my all. But, I did feel that my growth was stunted and when I reached that stage, I decided to call it quits. I got some signs, so yes (sic).” Sudhanshu Pandey explained that even though his role is substantial, the structure of a daily soap opera inherently demands the highlighting of various characters and plots.
He said, “My character was strong. In a daily soap, your character can not always be the most important one, there are ups and downs. The story will shift to other characters too. Sometimes, it will be shift on the kids, sometimes on Maa bapuji and so much more. Audience will get bored if the story revolves just around a single character (sic).”
Sudhanshu makes it clear that even after Gaurav Khanna’s addition to the show, his role wasn’t altered. He confidently asserts that both he and Rupali are purely performers, staying clear of any creative aspects of the program, thereby eliminating any possibility of creative clashes.
They share a jolly relationship on the set, spending their time amid endless humor and hearty laughs. The producer of Anupamaa, Rajan Shahi, put an end to recent speculations regarding Gaurav Khanna and Rupali Ganguly’s departure from the show during a recent huddle with HT.
