Springboks Test squad will be announcement countdown

With just over a month to go until South Africa’s first Test of the year, the Springboks are scheduled to announce their squad for the bulk of the international season next Saturday. 

Fresh off the back of another fairytale-like World Cup triumph, the Springboks will embark on a gruelling 13-Test schedule in the 2024 calendar year, with four year-mid Tests, six Rugby Championship games and a three-match tour of Europe.

The first Test of the season, against Wales, will be played at Twickenham Stadium, a neutral venue for both sides, before the South Africans return home for their much-anticipated two-Test series against Ireland and a historic showdown against Portugal, also on home soil.

Counting down from today, Rassie Erasmus’ first post-World Cup Springbok squad will be named exactly week on from today. 

The Springbok camp has confirmed first squad of the year to board the plane to England will be finalised and revealed on Saturday, 8 June, following the conclusion of the United Rugby Championship.

South Africa could potentially have three local sides participate in the URC quarters, with the Bulls and Stormers having already qualified and the Lions still in with a shot of making the top eight later today.
