Today we are talking about the lesser-known star and it’s none other than Ravindra Kapoor, cousin of Prithviraj Kapoor. Following in his family’s footsteps, Ravindra made his debut in acting during the 1950s and 60s. He worked in several memorable films during this time but he was never able to become a lead actor. Despite coming from a cinematic background he remained largely unnoticed and was often diverted to supporting character.
Nonetheless, Ravindra Kapoor made use of this given opportunity and featured in films such as Chambe Di Kaali, Thokar, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Kaarwaan, and Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke in the 50s and 60s yet he never got a lead role. Despite investing over 50 years in the film industry, he never achieved the fame or success that other members of his family did. Many also described him as the least successful member of the Kapoor family.
This film by Kapoor gave a tough fight to Sholay
One particular film of Ravindra Kapoor that stood out was Kaarwaan, it even competed with the legendary film Sholay starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Hema Malini in lead roles. Kaarwaan featured Jeetendra and Sharmila Tagore, it was a huge hit at the box office surpassing Sholay in ticket sales at the time of its release. In the film, Ravindra played the role of Jeetendra’s friend, accompanying him on a journey in his truck.
