SKY has rolled out a new voice search feature to its remotes that lets users pull up their favourite shows by singing the theme tune.

There are currently nine intro songs to popular adults and children’s shows, like Friends and Bluey, that people can sing.

Sky customers can also speak “the theme tune that goes like” into their remote to watch a collection of Brits’ favourite theme tunes.

This includes more modern instrumental classics like the iconic piano riff in Succession and the evocative White Lotus intro.

  • Big Bang Theory – “It all started with a big bang”

  • Gavin & Stacey – “I’ll wait by the window for you”
  • Bluey – “Mum, Dad, Bingo, Bluey”
  • Gilmore Girls – “Where you lead, I will follow”
  • For a collection of the greatest instrumental theme tunes – “The theme tune that goes like”

Movie quotes

Another clever Sky TV hack lets you quickly track down a film simply by using a famous quote – which is perfect if you’re always forgetting the names of movies.

For instance, press the microphone button and say “You can’t handle the truth!” to bring up A Few Good Men.

Saying “My Precious” will get you The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

There are dozens of quotes that you can try the feature with.

Lost your remote? Fear not

If you have a Sky Q box and you lose your remote, there’s an easy way to get it back.

You don’t need to delve into the crummy abyss beneath the sofa cushions, or get on your hands and knees to peer under furniture.

The remote actually has a built-in speaker that can beep if you’ve lost it.

All you need to do is activate the feature using your Sky box.

The remote control will beep loudly for 30 seconds, allowing you to quickly locate it.

It means you’ll spend less time frantically turning sofa cushions upside down.

First make sure your house is quiet, so you can hear the beep.

Then press the Q button on the front of your Sky Q box.

After a few seconds, your paired Sky Q Touch/Sky Q remote with Voice Control will beep.
