This Diwali Rohit Shetty released one of the highly anticipated installments of his cop universe – ‘Singham Again.’ The multi-starrer headlined by Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, and more, had a great opening day.
According to Sacnilk, the movie collected a massive Rs 43.50 crore on day 1. With these numbers, the movie has become Ajay Devgn’s career’s biggest-ever opening, surpassing the previous best ‘Singham Returns’ (2014), which earned Rs 32.09 crore on day 1.
Based on the Ramayana-themed storyline, the movie brings together the big guns of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. His biggest cops – Ajay Devgn as Singham, Ranveer Singh as Simmba, and Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi. Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff are a delightful new addition to the cop drama; and, at the same time, Salman Khan’s cameo as Chulbul Pandey is exactly what led to rounds of claps and whistles in the theater. Not to forget, Arjun Kapoor’s never before seen avatar as the big bad!
It is expected that numbers will only see a rise on the weekend.
‘Singham Again’ vs ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’
Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ was not the only entertainer that made it to the theatres this Diwali. It clashed with Aneez Bazmee-directed horror-comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.’ Starring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit, the movie made good business at the box office; however, it couldn’t beat ‘Singham Again.’
Nevertheless, together both the movies have set the box office on fire. Even trade experts believe the same. “Its a great Diwali for the Hindi film industry because both the films ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and ‘Singham Again’ has opened to a thunderous response at the box office. The opening day numbers are going to be huge and the combined business of both the films on day 1 which is Today, Friday is going to be historical. So that will show the real potential of theatrical business,” said Taran Adarsh in his exclusive conversation with us.
