After gaining immense popularity with his performance as MC Sher in ‘Gully Boy,’ Siddhant Chaturvedi wanted to explore diverse roles in his career. He wanted to do a full-fledged action movie and finally this year with ‘Yudhra’ he will establish his image as a mainstream action hero. However, before ‘Yudhra’ came to him, he wanted to do ‘Don 3.’
During a recent media interaction, he mentioned how he got the part in ‘Yudhra’ and the confusion with ‘Don 3’.According to a New18 report, Siddhant told Ritesh Sidhwani, his mentor from his ‘Inside Edge’ days, that his heart is calling for an action movie post ‘Gully Boy’. Later he got to know that Farhan Akhtar was meeting with writer Shridhar Radhawan for the ideation of a movie. “They hadn’t locked anything yet. Somehow, I heard that they were planning an action film. It was a far-fetched dream for me to do an actioner at that time. I thought that if an action film was happening and Farhan sir was in the room, it had to be Don.”
The next step for Siddhant was to ask Ritesh for the role, but he told the actor that the movie for which Farhan and Shridhar were talking was not ‘Don 3.’ Thereafter, he was told to meet the director Ravi Udyawar, who liked his work and wanted MC Sher’s demeanor and attitude for ‘Yudhra.’
Although Yudhra wasn’t Don 3, it was still a dream come true for Siddhant, as he wanted to do an action film since he was a child. Counting his blessings, he mentioned that he got a chance to work with the best co-stars and technicians on the film.
In the same conversation, Siddhant also spilled beans on the delay of ‘Yudhra,’ which was initially set to go on the floors in August 2020. He said that he is glad the team didn’t start the shoot in the pre-pandemic time. “Thankfully, we didn’t start pre-pandemic, which would’ve been a problem, so we waited. During that period, I did Gehraiyaan and Bunty Aur Babli 2. Yudhra required a lot of prep and a big crew. We were supposed to shoot in international locations too.”
Some international action directors had to fly in with their teams and equipment. We had an elaborate boat sequence, and pulling it off during the pandemic would’ve been tricky. We only started shooting post-pandemic once restrictions were relaxed,” he concluded.
