This Independence Day is just round the corner and this time it will be a cinematic treat for all movie buffs. Well, three high-profile Hindi films including Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa are releasing in theatres on the same day. The films will face a tough competition. However, there is some early buzz suggesting that Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao‘s horror comedy Stree 2 will emerge as the leading contender and will rule the box office.
Stree 2 to lead at the box office?
Well, Stree 2 is the sequel to a 2018 hit film that managed to impress audiences with its storyline and plot. According to Sacnilk, the film’s day-one booking figures have already managed to cross Rs 10 crore. As per reports, Stree 2 has surpassed the pre-sales of other big releases like Tiger 3, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva and more films. Viewers are quite excited to watch Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. Akshay Kumar and John Abraham came face-to-face on August 15 and previously their films had clashes namely Gold vs Satyameva Jayate, and Mission Mangal vs Batla House. Amid all these movie clashes, will Shraddha’s Stree 2 come out as a winner? Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa are trending in the entertainment news.
Film producer and industry expert Girish Johar predicted a strong opening for Stree 2. He said that the film will have the biggest start and it can probably be the top 2 or top 3 films released on Independence Day, nearing Ek Tha Tiger and Singham Returns as both clocked Rs. 30 crore plus. Stree 2’s opening can be in this range.
Vishek Chauhan also said that Stree 2 is facing capacity issues and if the other two films not come out on August 15, Stree 2 would have opened at Rs. 40 crores plus. He said now the film will open at around Rs. 30 crores. Talking about Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein will surely fight a battle to secure second spot at the box office.
Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said that Stree 2 would open at Rs. 35-40 crores and all the pre-release predictions would go for a toss. He said that Stree 2 is going to surprise as well as shock a lot of people. He even added saying that the film will shock because it is not a multi-starrer and faces two A-lister heroes. Atul Mohan said that Vedaa might have a slight edge over the comedy Khel Khel Mein as it might appeal to more mass audience due to its genre.
