Shock over funeral parlour’s boozy cemetery ‘after tears’

A local funeral parlour’s boozy “after tears” service at a cemetery has sparked shock and disgust amongst the public.

In South Africa, friends and family of the deceased hold a “celebration” after they are laid to rest.

In various social media posts, a high-profile funeral parlour’s unorthodox service, which provided what appeared to be an “after-tears” celebration at a cemetery, was the talk of the town.

In the pics, was a set up of a table laden with alcoholic designer drinks like Ice Tropez and Chateau Del Rei. Several neatly dressed attendants were on hand to serve patrons.

The flashy funeral parlour – which boasts a celebrity ambassador – has also posted pictures of their VIP services, which included a G-Wagon, a horse-drawn carriage, and a five-star set-up of “grave decorations.”

DIGNIFIED OR DISRESPECTFUL?

On X and Facebook, South Africans were shocked at the audacity of the boozy celebrations facilitated by the funeral parlour.

@targunstiles: “We no longer have respect for the dead”

@_BlackZA: “It’s not about the family. It’s about respecting the cemetery.”

@NathiSibiya8: “What matters these days is money, not dignity.”

Meanwhile, the funeral parlour also trended for all the wrong reasons…

@JohannesNdlang1: “They saw business opportunity; they explored it

@Mfoka_Mlangeni: “Turning a grieving moment into a business will never make sense.”

@ChiccoDhladhla: “There is demand, and they are there to fulfill that.”

DID THE FUNERAL PARLOUR TAKE THEIR ‘AFTER TEARS’ CELEBRATION TOO FAR?
