Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore recently opened up about her Bollywood journey. In an interview, the former actress spoke about her on-screen chemistry with the legendary Rajesh Khanna. The duo was once a superhit, and fans loved watching them together on the big screen.
During an interview with Subhash K. Jha for Free Press Journal, Sharmila reflected on her collaboration with Rajesh in the film Aradhana, which elevated their stardom to new heights. The actress shared a personal anecdote during the conversation, revealing that she was expecting her son, Saif Ali Khan, while filming Aradhana. She said, “Kaka and I did many films together. We really worked well together. I was pregnant with Saif during Aradhana and with Soha when Kaka and I did Chhoti Bahu.”
Rajesh Khanna was never known for his punctuality on set. Reflecting on this, Sharmila Tagore shared, “Kaka and I had two major problems. He came much too late on the sets, and our best profile on camera was the same. So, when we were in the same frame together, Kaka and I were always trying to get the cameraman to shoot our right profile.”
Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna were one of Bollywood’s most iconic pairs, celebrated for their undeniable on-screen chemistry. Their landmark film Aradhana (1969) catapulted Rajesh Khanna to superstardom and is still remembered for its unforgettable songs like “Mere Sapno Ki Rani.”
The pair also starred in other hit films such as Safar (1970), where they portrayed a couple dealing with a tragic illness, and Daag (1973), which explored themes of love and sacrifice.
