Reports have claimed that Sujoy Ghosh has stepped away from directing Shah Rukh Khan‘s next film King, and here’s what he is up to now. As per a report in Mid-Day, Sujoy is now busy developing a thriller with actor Shahid Kapoor. Yes, you read that right!
A source quoted saying, ‘Shahid was interested in the script earlier, but the timing wasn’t right. Now, both Sujoy and he are making it a priority to align their schedules and bring them to life’. Shahid’s team on Monday morning denied that he’s in talks with Sujoy for any such film.
The details of the plot are still unknown The genre is reported to be a thriller. Sujoy’s 2012 film Kahaani, starring Vidya Balan and his latest Netflix India feature Jaane Jaan, starring Kareena Kapoor managed to win hearts.
As per reports, Sujoy would no longer be directing King which starred Shah Rukh Khan in the main role. Now, Pathaan director Siddharth Anand will be filling in the space. King will also star his daughter Suhana Khan along with Abhay Verma, and Abhishek Bachchan. It’s produced by Shah Rukh and wife Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film is reported to release in cinemas on the occasion of Eid in 2026. The film will witness a clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.
Shahid managed to impress all with his exceptional performance in Ken Ghosh’s Fida (2004) and his charming aura in 36 China Town managed to receive praise. Parmeet Sethi’s 2010 heist thriller Badmaash Company, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider (2014), Ali Abbas Zafar’s action thriller Bloody Daddy and more Shahid’s performance set the screens on fire. Shahid made his digital debut in 2023 with Raj & DK’s thriller show Farzi which is available to watch on Prime Video India. He will be seen in Rosshan Andrews’ action thriller Deva and a Vishal Bhardwaj directorial.
