Mufasa: The Lion King is set to be released in theatres in just two days, and the Rotten Tomatoes scores are slowly coming in. The critics’ rating is being posted on the website, and it is better than 2019’s The Lion King. The film’s Hindi trailer garnered more attention as Shah Rukh Khan returned to Mufasa, and this time, his youngest AbRam joined in as the young Mufasa. Scroll below for the deets.

The Lion King –

The 2019 musical drama film was the remake of the 1994 movie of the same name. It was directed by Jon Favreau and was the highest-grossing animated film of all time until Inside Out 2’s release. It is the highest-grossing musical film, the highest-grossing remake, the seventh highest-grossing film of all time, and Disney’s biggest hit that isn’t a Star Wars or Marvel movie.

The Lion King collected $543.63 million during its domestic run and $1.11 billion at the international box office. Therefore, the film’s worldwide total was $1.66 billion. According to Deadline, the film’s net profit was around $580 million and was made on a budget of $260 million. Now, whether or not Mufasa: The Lion King will be able to surpass its predecessor is a big question, as there is already another Disney sequel running in the theatres, and that is Moana 2. Wicked is also ruling the box office, and to top that, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will clash with Mufasa.

Mufasa: The Lion King

It is a prequel and sequel to the 2019 photo realistically animated feature Mufasa, directed by Barry Jenkins from a screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson. It tells the origin story of Simba’s father, Mufasa.

Rafiki tells the story of Mufasa and Taka to Kiara, Mufasa’s granddaughter and the daughter of Simba and Nala. The story follows the orphan Mufasa, who is befriended by the young prince Taka and adopted by Taka’s family; the pair become as close as brothers. Timon, the Meerkat, and Pumbaa, the Warthog, add color commentary.

Mufasa Vs The Lion King Rotten Tomatoes

The Lion King, released in 2019, received an average rating of 51% from 435 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, Mufasa was not only praised by the critics in the early reviews but is also leading with its RT score. It has gained 59% from 78 reviews. This rating is subject to change once the film hits the screens this Friday.

The film is expected to get some extra love in India because of Shah Rukh Khan and AbRam, which might be reason for a better RT score. Their voice-acting is impressive in the trailer. King Khan brings a different aura to the upcoming movie. Mufasa: The Lion King is set to be released in the US on December 20.
