During the 77th Locarno Film Festival, the actor disclosed to the crowd that renowned Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan was the inspiration behind the posture. Shah Rukh Khan said, “I don’t know. I have no idea.” The actor did, however, clarify that in 1990s Indian films, one of the things that actors were expected to know was dip.

Story Behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Iconic Arm Pose

Standing up on stage, Shah Rukh Khan demonstrated how to perform a dance move. The Jawan actor then said that he was unable to accomplish that. He said, “Then I felt very ashamed of myself and all night I kept doing this.”

He then met with the late Saroj Khan, the choreographer, early the following morning of the shoot, and informed her that he was prepared. However, she stated that he can simply stand there with his arms out as he is unable to perform the dip. Shah Rukh Khan, however, argued that he could perform the dance routine and that he didn’t need it because it didn’t suit him.

SRK did as she instructed, extending his arms instead of dipping. He moved on to another set, and this time he had trouble doing the dance move. He therefore recommended that he strike the open-arms position to the choreographer. He had to perform it with more intensity because he was extending his arms more often.

“After that, I made it scientific,” he said, explaining that he began advising patients to maintain a specific angle and posture for their right leg. “I am only fooling you all. It’s nothing, it’s just arms out but,” the superstar concluded his thought with a smile.
