A SEX attacker dubbed the Coronation Street Rapist is trying again for parole — despite breaking rules when he was released from jail before.
Andrew Barlow got his nickname for attacks on women mainly in terraced homes in Manchester where the soap is filmed.
The lifer, 67, was freed on parole in March last year — despite then Justice Minister Dominic Raab trying to stop it.
He was ordered back to jail three months later for breaching conditions.
But he will ask to be freed again at an appeal hearing on Wednesday.
A source said: “He believes he shouldn’t have been recalled and isn’t a threat.”
The Parole Board said: “Protecting the public’s our No1 priority.”
A spokesperson for the Parole Board said: “”An oral hearing has been listed for the parole review of Andrew Barlow and is scheduled to take place in June 2024.
“Parole Board decisions are solely focused on what risk a prisoner could represent to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.
“A panel will carefully examine a huge range of evidence, including details of the original crime, and any evidence of behaviour change, as well as explore the harm done and impact the crime has had on the victims.
“Members read and digest hundreds of pages of evidence and reports in the lead up to an oral hearing.
“Evidence from witnesses including probation officers, psychiatrists and psychologists, officials supervising the offender in prison as well as victim personal statements are then given at the hearing.
“The prisoner and witnesses are then questioned at length during the hearing which often lasts a full day or more.
“Parole reviews are undertaken thoroughly and with extreme care. Protecting the public is our number one priority.”
