Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues in Pretoria

A new witness is expected to testify in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial on Monday, 18 March at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

On Friday, two police officers who took down confession statements allegedly made by accused 1 Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and accused 2 Bongani Ntanzi testified in court.

The confessions which now form part of the evidence in the main trial revealed that the accused paid a traditional healer R50 for consultation.

The accused wanted to check if they would succeed with killing Meyiwa. They later paid the traditional R5000.

Also, Meyiwa’s then girlfriend who he shares a child with Kelly Khumalo allegedly paid the accused R100 000. In his confession, accused 1 revealed that he was paid R30 000 while accused 2 was allegedly paid R45 000.

Five men are on trial for the murder of Meyiwa. MuzikawukhulelwaSibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli are on trial for the murder of Meyiwa.

The men face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence, and possession of ammunition. All five men pleaded not guilty.
