Harlem’s Fashion Row, the agency advocating for designers of color, has revealed the sixth staging of its annual Black History Month Summit. The event, called HFR-Live-The Iconic Era is scheduled for Feb. 15 from 1 to 5 p.m., EST.
HFR’s Black History Month Fashion Summit recognizes the contributions of notable Black designers, pioneers, creative directors, editors and influencers in the fashion industry. Several retail brands, fashion icons and industry professionals will convene at the Harlem School of the Arts to discuss and showcase opportunities in the fashion industry.
Gap Inc. and Hugo Boss are collaborating as event sponsors. During the summit, Gap Inc. will engage in a conversation with Dapper Dan, an American fashion designer and haberdasher from Harlem and a longtime Gap partner, to discuss their latest collaboration. Experts will discuss how to build a successful Black-owned direct-to-consumer brand and what’s working for HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) fashion departments, among other topics.
The fashion summit was created to inspire the Black and Latinx community and talk about opportunities available in fashion.
“We are honored to host an event again highlighting the impact of Black creativity in fashion. I am proud of the progress we’ve made over the years, the guests who have graciously consented to share their wisdom and expertise, and the opportunities for our aspiring designers.”
