However, during the final night of this year’s tour, a “distressing incident” occurred which left team members “scared”.

Santa and a couple of others in the motor were attacked with hard boiled eggs after leaving Fauldhouse which was the last stop on their route.

It happened last night on the B7010 between Fauldhouse and Longridge where a cycle path runs alongside and there are no street lights.

It is claimed at least three objects were thrown from near the cycle path.

One hard boiled egg hit the windscreen of the car and another hit Santa in the arm, leaving him with bruising.

Bosses at the business claim that the time the car was going to be on the stretch of road would have been known as a schedule was posted online.

And they believe that it was a “premeditated” and “targeted” attack.

Taking to Facebook, the company asked the public that if they witnessed anything to get in touch.

The post read: “I’m sure you’ve already seen our otherwise successful Santa tour had been marred by the distressing incident that occurred on the way home last night which needs to be addressed.

“On the B7010 between Fauldhouse and Longridge of which a cycle path runs adjacent. It happened after leaving Fauldhouse heading towards Longridge just before the first bend.

“It was heavy rain and was very dark, there are no street lights on that stretch of road.

“Due to the conditions and the Santa car being mechanically 65 years old open top car, the driver was extremely focused on only the road ahead.

“There was at least three thrown objects directed from the side of the road which had the cycle path.

“One object just missing and going between all the passengers. At least one hard boiled egg hitting the driver’s front window and one hard boiled egg unfortunately hitting the rear elderly male passenger, ‘Santa’, on the upper arm which left him injured and bruised. It luckily missed his face.

“We speculate that due to the facts this was a PREMEDITATED and TARGETED attack on our Santa car and we need your help.
Whoever it was needs to reflect on there actions.

“This was very scary for us and doesn’t bare thinking about how dangerous or catastrophic this could have potentially been.”

Locals were left shock following the incident and flooded the comments.

One person said: “Absolutely appalling. You are the kindest crew and this behaviour towards you and Santa is awful.”

Another wrote: “Words fail me. What a fantastic thing for your business and staff to do over the years for the local communities over the festive period and then be subjected to this mindless attack is beyond comprehension.”

A third commented: “I’m so sorry someone ruined the night. Your Santa car is an amazing and magical experience for the kids (and grown-ups) helping create an amazing festive community spirit.”

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
