Scots glamping pods & caravan park named in list of UK’s best campsites

SEVERAL Scottish glamping pods and a caravan park have been named in a list of the UK’s best campsites.

Camping directory Campsites.co.uk has published its list of 150 camping, glamping, and touring sites for 2024.

And it’s good news for holidaymakers north of the border as 11 are in Scotland.

The hand-picked sites are a combination of award winners and other sites rated highly for offering their campers a reliably great break.

These are as follows:

Machrihanish Holiday Park

The five-star rated Machrihanish accommodation includes luxury caravan holiday homes, hot tub lodges and camping pods, as well as touring and camping pitches.

One happy holidaymaker said: “We opted for the “vogue” lodge with hot tub and sea view.

“Kitted out with all mod cons, a very comfy bed. Spotlessly clean. Very relaxing.”

Wilding on a Whim

Wilding on a Whim is a retreat in West Linton, with eco-conscious glamping pods nestled within a family rewilding project.

One review reads: “Perfect place for a relaxing cosy break. Set in beautiful countryside. Accommodation was superb, everything you need with great WiFi. The hosts were very helpful and left fresh produce for our arrival. We will definitely visit again.”

Set in the eight acres of grounds and gardens at Craighead Farm in Dunblane, there is a choice of five glamping/self-catering accommodations at this site.

Visitors will share the space with only the local wildlife and the site’s friendly animals.

A customer wrote: “We have just returned from a stay at the Burrow and if ever there was a place that was so good for mind, body and soul then this is it. From the minute you arrive you feel at peace.”

Pathgreen Glamping

Pathgreen Glamping is a secluded glamping site nestled away in the picturesque Perthshire countryside.

White Clover and Heather are luxury bespoke pods with central heating and idyllic furnishings, complete with private wood-fired hot tubs.

Harvest Moon Holidays offers a high-end glamping experience in Scotland.

The Bus Stop

The Bus Stop boasts unique glamping getaways in beautifully refurbished buses, just 30 minutes from Edinburgh.

The site’s range of eco and luxury buses sleep between two and six.

Blair Drummond Caravan Park

Balloch O Dee Campsite is situated on the edge of the Galloway National Forest Park in Dumfries and Galloway.

Surrounded by trees and mountains, this tranquil site offers a real chance to get away from it all.

It has a unique feel with free range hens, ducks and chicks wandering around the site.

One camper raved: “Beautiful quirky campsite. Facilities are clean, showers are warm, and there are a number of shelters for cooking out of the rain! It’s also lovely to be able to have proper campfires.”

Lochawe Camping Pods

Lochawe Camping Pods in Taynuilt, Argyll, come kitted out with the essentials, including beds, a fridge, microwave, kettle and heating for the cooler months.
