A SCOTS beach has been ranked the best coastal spot in the country.
Known for its expansive low tides and bustling promenade, the sandy shores of this seaside gem have won Scotland’s top accolade.
Portobello Beach in Edinburgh was hailed the UK‘s second-best beach – and the best in Scotland.
According to a recent study by JoJo Maman Bébé, the average visitor rating for Edinburgh’s coastal treasure is an impressive 4.6 out of 5.
While Yorkshire’s Whitby Beach claimed the top position with an impressive 4.7 out of 5 rating, Portobello Beach followed closely, and Scarborough Beach secured third place.
The study evaluated overall visitor ratings, the number of reviews each beach received, and the proximity to its respective city or town.

Using Google Maps, an overall beach score out of 100 was calculated.
With over 6,300 reviews, Portobello Beach achieved a commendable score of 94.4.
The popular children’s brand also rated Edinburgh as the best family-friendly city in the UK.
The city offers a diverse range of 30 activities for families, with the National Museum of Scotland highlighted as the top free family attraction.
Edinburgh received a score of 83.2 for its welcoming atmosphere, considering factors such as the number of child-friendly restaurants, top dining spots, and the overall safety for exploring.
Once again, Edinburgh led the rankings with an overall score of 91.84.
Glasgow also featured in the top ten.
Ranked sixth, the ‘Dear Green Place’ earned an overall score of 88.65.
