New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are being conducted in a total of seven phases, making it the longest elections of India. The first phase of voting will take place on April 19, 2024 and ahead of the polls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has declared holidays for certain schools and colleges in different states, on the dates of polling. Schools and colleges in Bihar will also remain closed on certain days because of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections as the educational institutions become the temporary polling places. Bihar Schools And Colleges Closed Due To LS Polls
As mentioned earlier, the schools and colleges in Bihar will remain closed on certain days, due to the voting in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The voting in Bihar, for its 40 seats will not be done in one phase but voting in different constituencies will be done across all seven phases. The schools and colleges, that will be acting as temporary polling locations, will remain closed on the dates of voting.
The voting for nine seats will be done in the first and second phase of the Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024 – on April 19, voting will be done in Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui and on April 26, the voting will be done in Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Banka and Bhagalpur. The voting for another fifteen seats will be done in the third, fourth and fifth phase – on May 7, voting will be done in Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura and Khagaria; on May 13, there will be voting in Darbhanga, Ujiarpur, Samastipur, Begusarai and Munger; on May 20, voting will be conducted in Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Saran and Hajipur.
Speaking of Phase 1, votes will be cast for seats in states- Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, as well as union territories like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu & Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry. And schools and colleges which will serve as polling stations in these states, will remain closed on April 19.
