Several parts of India are currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures crossing the 40 degrees Celsius mark. Many state governments are adjusting school timings or preponing summer vacation as a result of the high temperatures across the country. As a result, many states have either closed schools or changed the hours of operation.
Here is a list of states that have revised school timings:
Jharkhand
In response to the scorching heatwave affecting the entire state, the government has decided to adjust school hours starting April 22 until further updates.According to a government official, the new plan involves small students, from kindergarten to 8th class, attending school from 7 am to 11:30 am. Meanwhile, older students, from classes 9th to 12th, will have classes extending until noon.
The Meteorological department has already issued a heat wave alert for 15 districts from April 20 to April 22, with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state.
