Whether you’re a celebrity or not, a signature beauty look means one thing: You’ve discovered what works for you and you’re stickin’ to it. For Sabrina Carpenter, that means red or brown lipstick, exaggerated pink blush, and soft, cascading blonde curls. It’s a formula that works, but what are rules made for if not to be broken, and the six-time Grammy nominee chose the red carpet to shatter her own rules.
Carpenter stepped onto the carpet with her hair — still in those wide-barrel curls, mind you — swept up off her neck. She kept her side bangs and a few face-framing curls, then pinned the rest into a luxurious French twist. It’s a look that manages to mix up her go-to beauty repertoire while retaining her soft glam, old Hollywood-inspired signature.
Stylist Evanie Frausto used what he terms “a swift and seamless touch” to create the updo. The goal was to keep it “polished yet relaxed to highlight the dramatic open-back silhouette [of her gown] and beautiful diamond necklace she’s wearing,” he said in a release.
To build the look, which eagle-eyed fans on X suspect is pulled from the 1964 Shirley Maclaine movie What a Way to Go, Frausto used a suite of Redken products, from Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo and Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Conditioner for Carpenter’s initial blowout to Redken Control Hair Spray for that all-important hold. “The final look was an undone yet refined updo,” Frausto says. “Capturing that perfect balance of glamour and spontaneity, like the effortlessly sexy aftermath of a night out.”
