RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat says Bharat has been practising secularism since ages

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said that people on earth talk loudly on secularism but in reality, Bharat has been practising it since ages.

Addressing a public meeting in Majuli on Friday, Bhagwat said, “We have to develop our nation on the basis of Bharat’s time-tested selfhood. “

He added, “Our “Swa” should be based on generational requirements backed by our time tested traditional knowledge and also, the best knowledge from across the globe. We must acquire the best of the knowledge from the whole world, along with our own.”

He warned that the last few centuries have seen the world facing different problems due to faulty models based on materialistic aspirations. “However, our Bhartiya model empowers us to make society self-reliant in all aspects”.

He said that there was no need for agricultural development based on chemical fertilisers which ultimately has side-effects on people.

Bhagwat said that people on earth talk loudly on secularism but in reality Bharat has been practising it since ages. “The Sangh wants to become just an instrument of global welfare, not by creating a separate group in society, but by organising the whole of our society bringing all together while leaving aside our individual selfish attitudes”.Majuli is the site of the neo-Vaishnavite culture. The island district has in the recent past witnessed tension with some followers of Vaishnavite culture alleging that people are lured to convert by some Christian missionaries.
