And if there’s anything that’s been as highly anticipated as a new album, it’s the long-rumored launch of Fenty Hair, which the singer and entrepreneur has been hinting at for a while and finally just officially announced — with an unexpected new hairstyle to boot.
Rihanna took to social media on Tuesday afternoon to share that Fenty Hair is on the way with a colorful video that demonstrates the new line’s versatility. “A new family is moving in! @fentyhair is pullin up and it’s time to finally have the hair experience you’ve been waiting for,” the caption reads. “You know how much switching my hair up matters to me. I’ve had almost every texture, color, length, from weaves to braids to natural- so I am launching a flexible line of products for not only every hair want, but every single product is designed to strengthen and repair all types of hair, which is what we truly need! It’s time to play and get stronger by the style 💁🏿♀️”
And she’s not kidding when she says she switches up her color and length, doing exactly that for this announcement. As soon as the video starts, we see Riri sporting an unexpected pixie cut unlike any other we’ve seen her wear. She’s worn jet-black pixies with baby bangs and even pink pixies, but nothing like this flirty, retro, blonde number.
Even though she told us that she was over being blonde already, we’re excited to see the color got a chance to be seen in a short style. This particular pixie comes complete with almost-brow-length bangs, wispy pieces at the temples, and flipped-up back — kind of a mom-chic look that goes with the cul-de-sac she’s seen wandering in the clip.
