Hema Committee Report Latest Update: Revathy Sampath’s complaint against Siddique is expected to be handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to investigate allegations of sexual abuse in the Malayalam film industry.
Hema Committee Report: Malayalam film industry is abuzz with controversy as actress Revathy Sampath has filed a new complaint sexual assault complaint against actor Siddique. This development follows her earlier allegations of sexual harassment against him, which she claims happened when she was just 21 years old. The controversy began when Siddique, who was serving as the General Secretary of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), stepped down from his position after Revathy made her accusations public. She has now escalated the matter by filing an official complaint with the Kerala Police, sending it directly to the state police chief via email.
Revathy’s complaint is expected to be handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to investigate allegations of sexual abuse in the Malayalam film industry. This team has been tasked with looking into similar claims made by other women against male actors.
Revathy earlier revealed that her decision to file the complaint was influenced by the state government’s assurance of a thorough investigation (Hema Committee Report). She claims to have evidence that supports her accusations against Siddique, who she says abused her both physically and mentally during a meeting about a film.
Recalling the incident, Revathy described how Siddique initially approached her on Facebook, calling her “Mole” (a term of endearment in Malayalam). She says the abuse occurred during their discussion about a film, leaving her traumatized for years.
Revathy explained that after the assault, Siddique acted as if nothing had happened, which further compounded her distress. She felt isolated and unsupported by the industry and struggled with the trauma for a long time before finally deciding to speak out.
As the legal proceedings unfold, this case has put the spotlight on the issue of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry, raising questions about the treatment of women in the industry and the need for stricter measures to ensure their safety and dignity.
