Receive SASSA grant in existing or new bank account

Most South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant beneficiaries are currently battling many challenges in their effort to find other ways to receive payment.

But many aren’t aware that they also have the option of receiving their grants in their already existing bank account or by opening a new one. Here’s what you can do to be able to start getting paid in your account before the deadline for the Gold Card replacement.

HOW TO RECEIVE SASSA GRANT IN EXISTING OR NEW BANK ACCOUNT

There are a few steps SASSA grant beneficiaries need to take in order to receive payments in a bank account instead of using a SASSA card.

STEP ONE

Those who don’t already have a bank account can open one at any bank of their choice. Beneficiaries who have a bank account already have the option to use it to receive their grant. They will have to ensure that their existing one is active in order to get payments.

STEP TWO

Obtain an Annexure C – Request for Bank Payment form. This form can be collected at a SASSA office or easily downloaded online from the agency’s website.

STEP THREE

Take the form to the bank you will be receiving the grant at and have it filled.

STEP FOUR

Submit your completed and stamped SASSA form with banking details to a SASSA office. You will then start receiving payments in your bank account.

The receiving of SASSA grant payments in your account depends on when you switch to receiving them in a bank account. Payments are made into the account on the first of every month. Normal bank charges will apply when recipients start using this form of payment.
