Actress Raveena Tandon was most recently seen portraying the role of Indrani Kothari, the queen of the Alibaug society, in Karmma Calling, an Indian adaptation of the ABC series Revenge. Produced by R.A.T Films, adapted for India and directed by Ruchi Narain, the series debuted on January 26, 2024, on Disney+ Hotstar. Now, the actress has spoken about the response to the series.
Raveena Tandon on reactions to Karmma Calling: “My daughter’s friends are coming and telling me about how much they loved the show”
Raveena Tandon said, “My fans have always enjoyed my films but Karmma Calling has been breaking the internet to such an extent that I have gained a significant following with the GenZs and Gen Alpha. Even my daughter’s friends are coming and telling me about how much they loved the show, seeing me as Indrani Kothari in this show was thoroughly enjoyable and Indrani being the fashion goal.”
Director Ruchi Narain added, “Karmma Calling was a journey of 10+ years, I have also been so biased towards this show for multiple reasons. The fact that I love ABC Studios, the acclaimed US show ‘Revenge’, I always wanted to see Raveena Tandon as Indrani Kothari and work with Star Network to create this show. The way that everything fell into place at the right time. Was truly cosmic and reaffirmed my belief in Karma!! We have all been getting so much love, appreciation and feedback for the show I’m truly overwhelmed. The show has been trending on Disney+ Hotstar and has been in the top 5 shows for the past 3 weeks of launch. For me, it is true the Karma has finally come Calling!”
Ashutosh Shah & Taher Shabbir, Producers, R.A.T Films, said, “The creation of the Karmma Calling world, showcasing the opulence, bringing the drama alive and making it relatable to India is no easy job. We spent enough and more time in the pre-production phase to ensure that the series is relatable as well as entertaining for the audience. After seeing it being trending on Disney+ Hotstar for consecutive three weeks and also being amongst the top 5 shows, we as producers feel extremely happy and thankful to our partners Disney+ Hotstar for believing in the story and supporting us with everything.”
Karmma Calling is based on the U.S. original series Revenge, which aired from 2011-2015 and was produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios.
