Not just a successful businessman, the veteran industrialist was even a philanthropist and supported education, development and medicine across the nation. After gaining massive success in the business world, Ratan Tata even tried his hand in Bollywood, but failed miserably. Released in 2004, Aetbaar is a romantic physiological thriller. The film centres on Dr. Ranveer Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan), a protective father who wants to protect his younger daughter Ria Malhotra (Bipasha Basu) from her violent, unpredictable boyfriend Aryan Trivedi (John Abraham). Inspired by the 1996 American film fear, it also features Supriya Pilgaonkar, Tom Alter, Ali Asgar, Prithvi Zutshi, and Shruti Ulfat in supporting roles.

Well, the film received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. Made under Rs 9 crore, the film even failed to recover its total cost. It earned just Rs 4.25 crore nett in India and Rs 7.96 crore worldwide at the box office. After Aetbaar ‘s failure, the business tycoon never invested in any movie.

Ratan Tata was one of the world’s most influential industrialists. On October 7, the 86-year-old was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai owing to age-related issues. On Octorber 9, 2024, the news came out that the the renowned philanthropist passed away.

Tributes poured in from the entire nation, following Tata’s death. PM Narendra Modi mourned his loss and called him “a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being.”
